Guess Seductive Homme, or Yummy Smelling Men

The other day we wrote about Guess's new delicious women's fragrance (read about it here) and don't worry Guess didn't forget about the men - let's face it they sometimes need all the help they can get to smell nice.

(Let's all pretend that we can't see the hair band on the ground)

Guess Seductive Homme starts of with a foody light fragrance which deepens down to a seductive woody yummy fragrance.

Top Notes:
Cardamon
Mandarin Pulp
Pink Pepper

Middle Notes:
Vanilla Orchid
Crushed Violet Leaves
Vetiver

Bottom Notes:
Amberwood
Creamy Sandalwood
Skin Musk
Patchouli

Guess have delivered a simple and elegant bottle that has a magnetic closure in the gunmetal lid.

Guess Seductive Homme is "Designed for the confident, free- spirited, sophisticated man" mmm this doesn't quite describe my man, his idea of a beauty routine generally just involves a bar of soap but he really likes this fragrance.  He doesn't like fussy fragrances or the idea of even wearing a fragrance but this sexy smell is his new signature scent. The set contains a body spray so even if he forgets to use the Eau de Toilette he still smells fantastic.  (If I was to talk to him about layering fragrance he would look at me as if I was crazy).

I think it says a lot that a man who ususally doesnt wear fragrance has taken to wearing Guess Seductive Homme - when I asked him why he likes it "because it smells nice". What can I say, he is a man of few words.  As his girlfriend I am delighted that he likes this because he now smells deliciously masculine and sexy.

Guess have delivered another simple and elegant bottle with a masculine edge and a warm and sexy fragrance.

Guess Seductive Homme is available now 50 ml Eau de Toilette €32.95 (with fee shower gel)
30ml Eau de Toilette €4.95 (with free deodorant body spray).

Glam Prix in Arnotts

We have been having such wonderful weather lately (Why would you leave Ireland if you were guaranteed a bit of sun every once in a while?).  While I sat out the back and read in the summer sun himself was sitting on the couch (spread across the couch doing his best Homer Simpson impression) watching the Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.  "We should go to Monte Carlo", he said when I was rustling up an ice cold beverage.  Who needs Monte Carlo when we have Dublin?  That's right, this weekend Formula 1 is making its way down the streets of Dublin.

Guess Seductive Sunkissed

Whenever us Irish ladies go to America we always seem to buy Guess bags (they are much better value in the USA).  I have always been a sucker for Guess watches so I gravitate towards the watch section.  I had been so preoccupied by the bags and watches I didn't even realise that Guess had perfumes.  Guess have a new perfume for Summer 2012 Guess Seductive Sunkissed.

The box is polka dot and since the sun is shining outside I can't get the image of a retro polka dot swim suit out of my head.
The bottle is simple and elegant and as an added touch there is an adorable lipstick charm (I am now adding red lips to the polka dot swimsuit). I can imagine this bottle glamorously sitting on a vanity table.
I couldn't resist playing makeover with the lipstick charm and Winnie the Pooh.

(I don't know what it is but I love Teddy Bears dressed as something else, here Winnie is dressed like a cow, I also have a Winnie dressed as a bumble bee - I think I have some sort of illness.  I would like to state for the record that I NEVER put clothes on my dog - well except for one time when I put underwear on him, but that's a different and more irrelevant than Winnie the Pooh story)
The bottle is beautiful but "its whats inside that counts" and Guess don't let us down.

Top notes:
Pear
Raspberry
Pink Grapefruit

Middle Notes:
Brazilian Orchid
Jasmine
Vanilla

Bottom Notes:
Teide Violet
Musk

The perfume starts as a sweet and fruity fragrance, the musk and violet leaves a light seductive lingering scent.  This is a fragrance that is perfect for summer - the bright fruity fragrance adds a zing and the subtle musk and violet is sexy but not overpowering or out of place in summer.

I think the scent is young and fresh, if you're a fan of fruity sweet fragrances like Vera Wang Princess you should smell this out (see what I did there... smell instead of check).  The initial sweet and fruity notes are balanced out by the creamy vanilla.  Although I would say that this fragrance is more suitable to younger people I am not the youngest lady and I LOVE IT.

Guess Seductive Sunkissed costs €29.99 for 50ml and is available now.  The bottle is beautiful and the perfume is juicy and delicious - what more could a girl want? Guess say its Summer in a bottle .....sealed with a kiss.  I agree. Mwah.

Avène: Sun Protection Made Easy!

When we were invited to Avène's press day last week, the sun seemed but a distant dream, as we sat talking about all these lovely sun care and tanning products while the rain lashed down outside the window. What a difference a week makes! In fact, I'm going to credit Avène with our current good weather - they had faith. Thanks Avène! Anyway, this week I've been putting some of the products to the test and these are two that I'm really liking and that I think you will like too.

First up is the Very High Protection Emulsion 50+ SPF with UVA and UVB protection for normal to combination skin (€20.33). This comes in a 50ml squeezy tube that also has a handy pump dispenser. I'm using this instead of my normal daily moisturiser - I don't feel the need to add any extra moisturiser which I have done with high protection SPFs in the past. It was always a bit of a pain to apply SPF, wait for it to dry, and then apply moisturiser. If you didn't let the SPF dry sufficiently, you got those highly irritating white ball-ey things all over your face. HATE that! No such problems with this. It sinks in quickly and while it does leave a slight white tint on my pale skin, it's no biggie if you're wearing foundation over it (or even if you're not).

The second product is the Very High Protection Stick for Sensitive Areas (€17.28), again this is 50+ SPF with broad UVB and UBA protection. This little wind-up stick is so handy for keeping in your bag and topping up when you're out and about, or if you want a bit of extra protection on areas like your hair line, nose or hands. I don't know about you but I probably don't protect my hands as much as I should do (certainly not as much as my face) and they are one of the first areas to show signs of ageing.

We're all aware of the importance of sun protection at this stage and to ensure maximum protection, Avène offers two lines of broad spectrum suncare to suit different skin types. Their orange line (in orange packaging, including the products above), offers a complex of mineral, organic and chemical sunscreens which is perfect for normal to sensitive skin, including children's skin. The white line (in white packaging, funnily enough) is made from 100% mineral filters which makes them suitable for everyone, but they have been formulated for those with highly sensitive skin and conditions like eczema.

We're really impressed with the products from this range so look out for more reviews... for now, I'm back off out to join my Avène products on the balcony ;)

Have a lovely sunny weekend all!

Stila Pink Violet Eyes

I love my Stila Smudge Crayon in Pink Violet - the colour is stunning (see swatches here) but I don't tend to wear it during the day as it can look quite dark on my small lids.  What is a girl to do but come up with a way to wear it every day.  What I have been doing lately is apply a little of the product to the back of my hand (to warm it up) and then use my eyeliner brush (I use a MAC 210) and line my eye. Simples.

This really is a versatile product. Stila Smudge Crayon Liner is available from Stila.co.uk (free Shipping to Ireland and UK) just click here.

Stila Love at First Blush

One of these days you're going to see me on TV on the programme "Hoarders" or "People with Makeup OCD".  I have a compulsion to collect all of the special edition Stila products - I realise that I don't need more makeup, for the rest of my life - it is just a compulsion I have and when the compulsion is making you buy pretty things, how bad can that be?

Stila Love at First Blush came out in the spring but I missed it on Stila's new Ireland and UK site (click here) so with a sad face I tried to move on with my life.  I was recently on ASOS buying the In the Moment Palette for a friend's birthday (here) and I saw that ASOS still had the Love at First Blush in stock.  When buying presents I tend to use the system...one for you...one for me.

The blush is so pretty, it has layers of three different coloured hearts.  The top hearts are very pale and could be used as a highlight as they have a light shimmer.  The middle hearts represent the colour you achieve if you swirl the three together. The bottom hearts are a beautiful warm pink.
Blended together you get a pale pink (a little like the middle colour but with a bit more oomph).   This is a delicate colour so if you have dark skin this may not show up on your cheeks.  Usually if I am using a cheek colour I want a bit of colour to show but this give more of a subtle colour and glow, a perfect combination if you're using bright lips.  I have Benefit Hervana and it doesn't show up on my cheeks so if you're looking for a similar colour to Benefit's Hervana but with more pigment, try this.

Stila Love at First Blush is still available on ASOS and want to know the good news? It costs £10.00 yes only TEN POUNDS (I always buy through Sterling on ASOS as I have heard it works out at a better rate). Isn't it the cutest blush you have ever seen? Check it out here.

Oriflame Wonder Lash Mascara

Since our visit to Oriflame we have been busy testing the products which they kindly gave us to try.  Oriflame have a few Hall of Fame products which have been in circulation for a number of years and Wonder Lash Mascara is one of them.  The mascara has an interesting wand.  The wand is a plastic brush with short stubby bristles on one side and longer bristles on the other.  To get maximum effect of the mascara you just use the short bristles to coat the lashes (this side is amazing on the lower lashes).  Then to build up length you brush with the longer bristles.
My lashes before: Short curly and not very impressive.
After: Longer, more defined amazing lashes.

Oriflame Wonder Lash Mascara is currently on special offer for €6.00 and Oriflame have a great selection of mascaras.  Oriflame are about to release a mascara which naturally lengthen and conditions your lashes.  The amazing thing about Oriflame is they have such rigorous testing that you know when they claim your lashes are lengthened, YOUR LASHES ARE LENGTHENED.  You can view all of the shades in Oriflame's latest catalogue here, or to order a catalogue or products, you can contact Carol at oriflame.ie@hotmail.com, on Twitter @CarolsOriflame or through her web page.

New from Benefit: Sun Beam Highlighter

A new product launch from Benefit is always exciting and a new highlighter from Benefit is even more exciting as it's something the brand does so well. Sun Beam is the highlighter in question and we got a little preview of it a few weeks back. We got to have a little play with it and it's a gorgeous golden bronze toned highlighter that is perfect for summer. Sun Beam replaces Moon Beam in Benefit's highlighter line-up - I've never used Moon Beam, always preferring High Beam but according to Mark Rogers, Benefit's top Irish make-up artist, Sun Beam will suit a much wider range of skin tones than Moon Beam, even pale Irish skin tones.

Sun Beam is available exclusively from Debenhams at the moment, priced €26.50, and will be available everywhere from next month. I'll definitely be picking this up, it'll be gorgeous with bronzers and coral blushers for summer (fingers crossed we actually get one!).

What do you think, will you be heading to your Benefit counter to try this?

Myleene Klass does nails??

I didn't know that Myleene Klass did nails or nail wraps, if I am being precise. I got these at Christmas and only just tried them last week.  The kit (which is available from Heatons) contains a set of wraps a nail file and a set of shiny top coats.
There are a whole host of nail wraps on the market (Sally Hansen springs to mind) and I haven't tried any so I can't compare them to Myleene's.  I always find that my nails are too small for things like this (and false nails) and I decided to just have some accent nails.  The wrap for my ring finger was a little bit big but I think these look well.  You just  peel and stick onto your nail... easy. (I have since learned that you heat the wrap with a hair dryer it makes the wrap more plyable.  To complete the nails I used OPI Short Story.

Kate Moss for Rimmel Summer 2012 Collection - There is a Dupe for NARS Schiap

Yesterday I had a very quick look around Boots and was delighted to see some of the new Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipsticks.  I picked up some of the lipsticks from the previous collection (which still seem to be available) but since I am a creature of habit I picked up the bright pink (No 20) and a muted light coral pink (No 16).
I love the finish (its called Lasting finish) of these lipsticks - they are comfortable on your lips and give a great colour.  Since I happened to be wearing Nars Schiap I noticed that No 20 was a really good dupe (my friend couldn't understand why I would buy the Rimmel version since the colours were so similar).  Nars Schiap is a semi matte shade so your lips need to be in good condition to wear it, Rimmel's version is a lot more forgiving.   Nars Schiap is one of my favouite colours but at €25.00 a pop I don't wear it everyday - Rimmel No 20 will be taking its place.
Top Left Pic: Nars Schiap, Rimmel 20, Rimmel 16
Top Right Pic: Rimmel 20 - Nars Schiap
Bottom Left: Rimmel 20 on my lips

Kate Moss for Rimmel Summer 2012 collection should be popping up in the shops now and is currently on special offer in Boots for less than €5.00 (that's why I picked up 2 - it's not cause I have a makeup addiction or anything). Pin It

Emjoi Micropedi & FOTD! (That's Feet of the Day)

A couple of years ago, there was a bit of buzz on Beaut.ie about Pickles Ointment - a magical cream that claimed to literally make the hard skin shed from your feet. There's nothing Mags and I like more than a good beauty treatment mixed with a bit of gross-ness so of course we had to try it. There seemed to be a shortage of the stuff in Dublin (the power of Beaut.ie!) but I finally tracked it down in a rural pharmacy and we got to work slathering it on our hooves. At first it was great when the skin started falling off in sheets in a deliciously gross way but, long story short, we wouldn't recommend you use this stuff, unless you like having tender, sore, sometimes bleeding, feet. I then moved on to using the famous Ped Egg, which was good, but hard work and I don't really like the feel of grating my skin.

Source

The Emjoi Micro Pedi is an altogether more gentle and effective way of removing hard skin from your feet. The Micro Pedi is a hand held battery operated gadget that comes with two roller heads covered in something similar to sandpaper (pink which is coarse and blue which is extra coarse). You simply move the head over your hard skin - a little tip here is to hold it lightly against the skin rather than pressing it in (this will cause it to stop working). You can barely feel anything, just a slight tickle and it effectively turns your hard skin into skin that is soft to the touch. Regular use of this over the summer will keep your feet in great condition for flipflops and sandals. The fact that the rollers can be replaced and are interchangeable, and that it can be washed under running water, means that the same Micro Pedi can be used by several people - my Mam is loving it too.

At the 'press' day, we were treated to a pedicure using the Micro Pedi by the girls from Carter Beauty while chatting to the gorge Rosanna Davison. They used Zoya's 'Whitney' polish (available from SuperNail Ireland) - here's my FOTD for your viewing pleasure! There was also the cutest foot bickies!

The Emjoi Micro Pedi is available from Boots and most pharmacies, and also from the Lifes2Good site. It's currently on sale at €34.95 (the regular price is €49.90) - expensive, but worth it in my opinion. The rollers will need to be changed occasionally and they can also be purchased from Lifes2Good.

What do you think - would you try this? What are your tips for getting your feet in ship shape for summer?

Eyeko Eyeliner - It's Emerald, Like Us

A little while ago the lovely Steph from Beauty Emporium showed us this amazing Emerald Eyeliner from the range Eyeko and offered to send it to us to try.  Its an Emerald Eyeliner - like us. How exciting.  I don't really know a lot about the Eyeko range apart from the fact that I had a highlighting cream from the brand many years ago and that they have recently relaunched.

I have heard great things about their new mascara (which kinda looks like a lip gloss tube) which you can also buy from Beauty Emporium.  The Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner is really clever. It's designed with a long handle so no matter how short the liner is you still have something to hold only and balance (the liner does not go all the way into the silver handle).  When I first got the liner it was hard for me not to pretend it was a cigarette holder from a 1940's movie (you know I was walking around all day pretending I was a femme fatale).  The packaging is simple yet glam.

Above you can see a swatch of the liner - it is a beautiful emerald green with a tiny hint of gold.  The liner itself is a lot firmer than many of the liners I have recently been using (like Avon Supershock or Urban Decay 24/7).  I usually tight line under my eye and I dont feel like I can do that with Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner although lets face it, the colour is far too pretty to hide under my lashes.  So if you're looking for something like Avon Supershock this is not for you, the wax is a lot firmer.  This means you can achieve a smaller more precise line and although the wax is firmer it is not irritating or damaging to the eye.  My eyes are a little sensitive and start to tear if I look at an eyeliner but I had no problems with Eyeko Skinny Liner.  In fact I found that the slightly waxier formula helped the product stay in place longer.

Its such a stunning colour I wanted to just use neutral colours and line my eye.
Here we have neutral with the liner on the bottom lashes where it stayed all day without running down my face like softer liners have been known to.
The liner also blends really well into other colours and creates beautiful looks.

The liner costs €10.00 and I think it's a good price (but keep in mind the product is not as long as it looks) check it out here and of course while you're on Beauty Emporium's site you can shop from other brands like Sleek, NYX, Caite, OPI, China Glaze, Zoya and Z Palettes.  Beauty Emporium ships to Ireland, the UK and Europe. Check out the site here - it's a beauty lovers dream.

Stila Palette - In the Moment

If you're a friend of mine I will try and lure you over into buying Stila and if you're not really into buying makeup, I will get you some Stila (everybody needs a bit of Stila in their lives).  It was recently Redser's birthday and since her favourite colour is purple I thought that the Stila In the Moment palette would be perfect for her.  I took some sneaky pictures to show you (no I didn't swatch the eye shadows - I could hardly do that could I!?)
The palette has a similar lay out to the In the Light and In the Garden Palettes but this colour range is of neutral and purple shades and it is stunning.

There are 10 shades of Stila's award-winning eye shadow formula - I have told you before how amazing the formula is.  It can be used dry for a wash of colour or wet for an intense look.

The colours are: Instinct, Impulse, Glance, Improvise, Catalyst, Desire, Wonder, Spontaneous, Whim and Captivate.  As is becoming a Stila tradition the palette also includes an exclusive Smudge Stick shade in Tetra, a shimmery deep purple.  I love the shadesticks - they are perfection for tightlining.
This palette is really beautiful and all that can be said is this ....why didn't I get one for myself?  Doh.

Stila In the Moment Palette costs £25.00 and can be bought from Stila (here) and ASOS (here). Pin It

Oriflame Triple Core Lipstick: Pics and Swatches

Fashion Mauve & Fashionista Pink. Aren't they gorgeous?
On our visit to Oriflame R&D, one of the products that really caught our eye was the Triple Core Lipsticks - these things of beauty have three layers - the colour, or lipstick on the outer layer, the gloss on the next layer, and finally a balm on the inner layer.

The Trend Edition version in this gorge packaging costs €8.25, and is available in five shades. There are a further ten shades available in the main line which comes in sleek metallic packaging and these retail at €14.45 each. Oriflame have special offers and deals on all the time so look out for these.

We love these lipsticks - they're so different to anything we've seen before. The balm and gloss layers mean that these are really moisturising but they certainly pack a colour punch too.

Top: Fashion Mauve, Bottom: Fashionista Pink

How to change your man into David Beckham in three easy steps

David Beckham. What a stunning human being - not only is he gorgeous and stylish (we shall forget about the sarong wearing and matching Posh's outfits) he also seems to be a genuinely nice guy.  It's no secret that many a woman has drooled over David but he is the kind of guy to make other fellas swoon.  James Corden has a massive man crush on David and often talks about what a beautiful man he is and who could possibly disagree.

So I have come up with a simple and scientifically* proven way to turn your man into David Beckham in three simple steps (*may not be scientifically proven).

Step 1.
Get your man some of David's snazzy new underwear line -after all David Beckham is not going to wear some skuzzy old Y fronts or comedy boxer shorts.  David wears sleek clean man pants.  These man pants will make your man feel like a sophisticated knicker wearer.

Step 2.
Brighten up his complexion by using some of David's secret weapon Stila One Step Bronze (read about it here). This is what David uses on photoshoots to look slightly bronze and glowing.  Himself didn't take kindly to this step so it involved a small amount of wrestling (wrestle mania) to pin him down and apply a small amount on his forehead (he then won the bout and I had to withdraw to my corner of the couch).

(excuse my chipped nails but I had a scientific three step programme to perform)

Step 3.
This is quite possibly the most important step - apply some of David's new fantastic man smell.  It is important we don't refer to this as fragrance to the menfolk as this might frighten them off back into the cave where they will work on making fire.  David Beckham Instinct Sport is the new man smell which is a delicious blend of fresh and musky.

The man smell is made up of

Top Notes: Ginger Ale (not beer), mandarin.
Heart Notes: Ozone, Violet Leaves
Base Notes: Cashmere, Patchouli, Sandlewood.

This is a yummy smell that starts out quite fresh but settled down to a woody masculine scent.  The sheer animal magnetism that this scent creates will draw you in and make you want to jump on him to get a smell.  Just in case your man gets a little distracted during the process the bottle is very nifty and there is a magnet in the lid that snaps back into place (it's very cool and almost distracted me from the process).

Ta da! He is now transformed into David Beckham.
So there you have it, three simple steps is all it takes to be David Beckham, I am sure that hours in the gym, genetics and completely avoiding the ugly tree have helped David only slightly - it's all about the man smell really.

David Beckham Instinct Sport is now available at an introductory price of €19.99 or £15.95.

Disclosure: David Beckham Instinct Sport was sent to me and although himself hasn't turned into David Beckham - he is sitting on the couch watching Man V Food (who says David Beckham doesn't watch Man V. Food) but he smells gorgeous. Pin It

Stila One Step Bronze - It's a wonder product

I may have mentioned before that I love to look a little bronzed during the summer although "little" is the operative word and would hate to ever go overboard and end up like an Oompa Loompa. I think a "little" bronze/tan makes everybody look good.  My favourite way to achieve this is with Stila One Step Bronze.  It's a magic little bottle of goodness that is a primer, an illuminator and of course a bronzer.
Hold the Phone... a primer.. why would a bronzer need a primer? Well, that's one of the things that make this a wonderfully innovative and versatile product.  You can use One Step Bronze on its own as a slight flush of colour to brighten your skin, perfect for those with good skin or a run to the shops or maybe to the gym (no sniggering about me mentioning a gym), it's light and natural looking.

You can also use One Step Bronze underneath foundation (that is why the primer is so clever), or mix it with your foundation. Think of all the foundations that are a shade too light when it gets to summer, simply mix in a small amount of One Step Bronze and your foundation has been instantly warmed up.  Let's not forget that you can use this more traditionally over your foundation to add a glow.

One step Bronze (as well as One Step Foundation - which FYI I really really like) contains Stila's Youth Revival Bio-Available Mineral Complex that claims to:
Reduce imperfections
Improve skin texture
Diminish the look of fine lines & wrinkles
Minimize pores
Hydrate, balance and nourish the skin
Control oil production

The product is nourishing but not heavy so if you're wearing it on its own your skin looks clear and healthy without feeling greasy. What is lovely about this product is because it has a liquid consistency it blends really well into the skin and doesn't sit on top. The result is natural glowing skin - Yes Please. One Step Bronze is not only a very clever product, it's also a no fuss product.  You can blend the product in with your fingers - no need for brushes- simple.

One Step Bronze has an innovative triple helix of products (I am a sucker for anything that looks sciencey) as well as working it looks deadly.

The tripe helix includes:
Matte bronze with copper undertone - to bronze
Bronze with pink undertone - to enhance skintone and illuminate
Kitten - to brighten, illuminate and help diminish the appearance of sun spots
(The primer is the clear product)

You can still see a swirl of colours when you pump the product, you don't need a lot (a little goes a long way).  I like to mix on the back of my hand and then apply.

The effect is so natural - the product melts into the skin creating healthy looking, glowing skin.

Probably due to the fact that its a no fuss product with added skin benefits and a healthy glow that doesn't make you look like a disco ball you can use this product on men.  YES MEN. If you're doubtful about this how do you think Mr. David Beckham gets his glow?  That's right Stila One Step Glow- David uses it on his photoshoots. Victoria (or Vicky B as I like to call her) is a huge fan of Stila (nearly as big as me) she uses a lot of their products and even has the pleasure of having Sarah Lucero Stila's Pro Artist as her Makeup Artist (lucky thing). No wonder she always looks perfectly groomed (she has been loving Stila's new Stay all day 10 in 1 HD Beauty Balm -click here)

So let's sum this up, the product makes you look gorgeous and naturally tanned, is a primer, illuminates AND has anti ageing properties.  This multi functioning product costs £24.00. What are you waiting for, go check it out (here).  If powder bronze is more your thing you have to check out Stila's Summer Collection, they have the most stunning and perfectly toned bronzer I have ever seen - this is going to be a must have for everybody (check it out here).  The Summer Collection has just launched (right now)  http://www.stila.co.uk/ sign up (here) to their newsletter to receive details.
