I am a fan of the bright, bold in your face lippy - you could say that they are kinda my signature. Bourjois is my favourite brand from the Chemist ... can you see where I am heading here. Bourjois have created a new range of long lasting vibrant lip colours. When I first saw pictures of Rouge Edition Velvet* I got very excited ... very, very excited. While I am not necessarily a huge fan of long lasting lip products - they tend to be drying and uncomfortable on the lips - the shades of these bad boys are amazing. Rouge Edition Velvet are lightweight, long lasting (Bourjois say 24Hour colour but in reality they last a couple of hours, can handle drinks without a problem but would need to be reapplied after eating) intense colour.
There are 8 shades in the range - with more to be added in the autumn including some neutral shades-
Here are the current shades:
01 - Personne ne rouge!
02 - Frambourjoise
03 - Hot pepper
04 - Peach Club
05 - Ole Flamingo!
06 - Pink Pong
07 - Nude-ist
08 - Grand Cru
I have 5 shades to show you today but first I want to tell you what I think of them. As you will see the colour is intense and very pretty, some of the shades are quite similar so you won't necessarily need them all but Boots just happen to have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment so it would actually be quite rude not to get at least a pink and a red. Bourjois is my go to brand, they make freakin fantastic bases, I am a huge fan of their lip products and eye liners - if you pushed me I would say I am not a massive fan of their eye shadows but really.... a brand that gives me amazing foundation at an affordable price is always going to be my Makeup BFF.
A lot of brands bring out long wear lip products and you're pretty much guaranteed that they are going to dry out your lips like nobody's business, Rouge Edition Velvets have a much lighter texture so they are not as drying on the lips. I recommend applying a lip balm before any lip product (especially Long Wear) and for Rouge Edition Velvet as they are a lighter consistency apply 2 light coats of the product and you will have a perfect lip. NO JOKE. For me Rouge Edition Velvet are better than Stila Stay All Day Lip Colour - I KNOW, you know how much I love Stila but when I compared, Bourjois won. With 2 light coats of Bourjois you get a comfortable long wearing colour that lasts even through drinks (Stila's have beautiful colours but they feel much drier and tighter on the lips). If you try and apply one thicker coat the colour that you get from Rouge Edition Velvets may not be as opaque.... so remember to use 2 light coats.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet are out now and cost €12.49 and as I mentioned Boots are on 3 for 2 at the moment so hurry along to pick some up now.
