Holiday Shopping

I am one of those people who see Duty Free and immediately think "Makeup", if your reading this then your probably one of these people too.  We are very lucky in Dublin having pretty much one of the best Duty Frees that I have seen including a Victoria Secret shop.   It would be rude not to have a look.  If I am being honest with you I was a little disappointed, not with the range although it is mostly perfume, beauty and bags.  I was disappointed with the some of the prices, its like nobody told Victoria Secret the Celtic Tiger died a massively embarrassing death.  The small selection of knickers are €8.00 each which is a huge mark up on the US price especially when you can normally pick p 5 pairs for $25.00.  The price of some of the makeup bags is quite frankly eye watering.

There is a huge array of perfumes and body lotions and while I couldn't choose a perfume I picked up the body lotion in Coconut Passion and the fragrance mist in Love Spell (which smells fizzy to me, a weird description but it basically smells light, sweet and fizzy).  I picked up the Make it Last Prime Spray and Rockin Body Leg Shine as well as a lip gloss.  Honestly I havent tried these yet (what was I thinking Leg Shine in October???) I will have to get back to you when I try these out.

I have a new rule that I will not buy a foundation until I try it out, I will no longer be the sucker who gets a demo and then goes home with a lighter wallet and a foundation in the wrong shade.  I had been really interested in YSL Fusion Ink Foundation but the sample I got seemed to ball up on my chin while looking lovely everywhere else (am I doing something wrong? how is everybody else getting on).  So I decided to pick up the other foundation I had a sample of the Diorskin Star Foundation.  This bad boy is €48.00 in the shops but the Duty Free price is €38.00 which is a great saving.  At the moment its a little light for me but seems to look really well on the skin.   I also picked up the Dior Lash Plumping Serum, I don't know why, don't judge me.  This can be used as a lash primer but also to condition the lashes at night.  I am not sure on how it conditions the lashes but it definitely acts as a wonderful primer which adds volume and length.

When I was on holidays there was a European Sephora - its by no means as good as the US Sephora's but better than a kick up the arse so I had to check it out.  I picked up some of the Formula X polishes and picked up the Paint the Town set of 10 mini polishes (who has ever finished a full polish anyway).  The colours are lovely but honestly I am not blown away by the quality.  I am incredibly hard on my nails and nail polish so I will paint them properly and get back to you on the quality.

I was delighted to see a Too Faced stand in Sephora - the stand in Boots Liffey Valley is no more - so I picked up the Melted lipstick in the shade Fuchsia.  There wasn't a huge range of brushes so I picked up one that is a mineral makeup brush that I thought I could use with my foundation.  I picked up a Sephora lip balm dome thingy and a Sephora Matt Lip Colour in Forever Fuchsia (I am a creature of habit). Thats when himself came and decided he wasnt sitting outside Sephora anymore and it was time to  leave.

I also picked up a few bits and pieces from KIKO which I will do another post about, but man what an amazing and affordable brand.

Let me know if you would like to know more about how I get on with any of these products.  I feel a spending ban coming on STAT.
