YSL Rouge Volupte Shine No 50 Fuchsia Stiletto

I blame this purchase more or less entirely on Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits and Aisling Total Makeup Addict they were talking about the new shades in the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine and next of all I found myself in Boots with a new lipstick.

Normally I have a million swatches but on this day the shade 50 Fuchsia Stiletto jumped out at me and asked me to take it home.  I could only oblige.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shines are described as "A revolutionary lipstick that provides luscious color and luminous shine while actually conditioning lips"  Sold to the lady with €33.00 in Boots Points.  Volupte Shines are made with nourishing oils which hydrate and plump the lips and help them look hydrated for up to 8 hours.   There are 12 new shades in the range and I of course gravitated towards the bright pink.

Fuchsia Stiletto is very easy to wear, soft and comforting on the lips but leaves a lovely shot of colour.  They remind me of the Lancome Juicy Shakers (post here) but the solid oil is neater on the lips and easier to apply.  They really feel like a treatment on the lips.  YSL lip products are spendy but man they have to do the best packaging out there, the bullet is classy and weighty and you feel like you are getting your monies worth (or Boots points worth?).  I like to save my Boots points for exactly this kinda of treat.

Excuse the ronnie...I have no excuse

As you can see they leave a nice amount of colour on the lips.

Orange Red lipsticks for Spring Summer

Red lips make me feel polished and groomed and a little fancy, I always think RED lips are very festive and perfect for colder weather but I have found the perfect way to rock a red during Spring Summer and that is the Orange Red.

I have 4 favourites that I wear but definitely have a top 2.

First up is a Urban Decay Matte shade Temper its the "reddest" of the bunch but such a pretty colour to wear.  Urban Decay Matte shades are very comfortable to wear, really pigmented and don't feel drying (which is great I have really dry lips).

Unfortunately the next lipstick was a Limited Edition product from last Summer - Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in 1975. I was quite disappointed with the Charlotte Tilbury X Norman Parkinson Collection but this lipstick was a winner.  A true orange red you could imagine being worn to Studio 54.  Glamorous, decedent and possibly over the top to wear by the pool, its a stunning shade that livens up the face.

If you want full, intensely pigmented lipsticks that last all day (they really do Stay All Day) Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks are really your best choice.  I love the Stay All Day liquid lipsticks although I do have to make sure my lips are in good condition to wear them, as with any long lasting liquid lipstick.  The shade Venezia is so vibrant and stunning.

My absolute favourite by a mile at the moment is the stunning Stila Colour Balm Lipstick in Valentina.  Colour Balm lipsticks have intense pretty colour in an amazing formula. They look juicy and luscious, I am crazy about them.  Having dry lips Colour Balm Lipsticks are one of my favourite formula's, they feel like a balm but all the colour you would expect to see me wear.  To make it easy you can see the shade through the Stila logo on the side of the bullet and there is also a mirror on the top for easy application. I find it best to apply a bright lip shade like this with a lip brush for a better finish. I cant recommend Colour Balm Lipsticks enough everybody should be wearing them (dry lipped lovelies unite).

Such a beautiful shade in an amazing shade.

From Left to Right: Urban Decay Temper, Charlotte Tilbury 1975, Stila Venezia, Stila Colour Balm Valentina.

Do you only wear red in winter?  What is your favourite shade of red/orange red?

Duty Free Shopping - Shopping in Lanzarote

Its always exciting to go on holiday and as a beauty lover I get very happy at the idea of Duty Free shopping ahhh there is nothing like The Loop to get a beauty lover very excited.  I have been in many Duty Free shops and we are so lucky in Ireland to have one of the best.

In saying that I only had approximately 3 minutes in the Loop (I should have shopped online) but I had my eye (nose?) on Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt for ages and snapped it up for €43.30.  I was in such a rush I didn't get to enjoy the Jo Malone process of wrapping the bow and spraying the paper but I did get an fresh scent perfect for my holiday.

I have been after the Urban Decay eyeshadow in Fireball for ages and in my rush I picked up Freelove by accident.  DOH.  Wrong shade but its very pretty and ended up being perfect for holidays.  It cost €15.30 in The Loop.

My holiday destination was Lanzarote which is a Duty Free island and since I had so little time in The Loop so whats a girl to do but check out some makeup?  There are many shops selling perfumes (and electronics) but my advice would be to stick to the chains such as Fund Grube and Dalia Perfumerias which are more reputable retailers.  Fund Grube and Dalia always seem to have a special offer on, fragrances are reduced and there seems to be an additional 20% off (as well as other special offers and promotions).
I never gravitate towards Estee Lauder (not sure why, perhaps I think they are too "Grown Up" for me) but its the time of year for the Bronze Goddess Collection to launch so I had a little look -unfortunately no Bronze Goddess yet - but I did pick up this stunning Pure Color Liquid Lip Potion in the shade Naughty Naive for €23.92 which isnt a great saving as at home they cost €24.00.

I may not have gotten that much of a bargain but I am really enjoying this liquid lipstick which is such an amazing shade and great on the lips.   It is a traditional liquid lipstick all the pigment of a lipstick with the ease of applying a gloss.

Clinique Pep-Start has been getting a lot of attention and as a sleep deprived mammy (ahh Im just being dramatic) I will give anything and everything a go.  The Irish price for Pep-Start is €28.00 but I picked it up in Lanzarote €16.45.  Grand Saving.  Not sure yet how its working for my eyes but ill keep you informed.

New on counter were the Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour which are vibrant lip glosses with built in primers, I picked up the shade GoGo Pop for €18.50.  These are €20.00 in Ireland.

When I saw the new Chanel liner in Fervent Blue on counter I did a happy dance when I tried to pick it up in Dublin it was out of stock and here it was for €19.35 (€25.00 In Ireland).  I have been paring Freelove and Fervent Blue for a easy but summer look.

Ahh so happy with my holiday makeup - it shows on my smug face.
I think if your looking for a real bargain in Lanzarote you should check out the perfumes I picked up Michael Kors 30ml Sporty Citrus €24.90 (€55.00 in Ireland) and I picked up a few presents Clinique Happy  €21.98 (50ml €52.00 in Ireland), and  Giorgio Armani Si 30ml €35.95 (€58.00 in Ireland).    Its worth pointing out that you get a better bargain buying perfumes on the island rather than in the Duty Free on the way home.

I have used to check the Irish prices cause I love a bit of shopping in Debenhams and I get quite excited when my loyalty card builds up money. Pin It

Oasis Spring Summer 2016

About 90% of my wardrobe is Spring Summer, I just feel happy looking at the bright and vibrant colours and joy of joys having my toes liberated to the world.  My absolutely favourite shop is Oasis, it is a wonderland (especially during the summer) of vibrant prints and cool classics and some of the best shoes a girl could wish for.  Oasis Flagship shop in Stephens Green is newly renovated with brilliant new lighting an adorable kitsch till area (which looks like an cute little kitchen) and what seems like a million more items of clothes.  While I love all Oasis locations the one in Stephens Green is the biggest and the best, I find it difficult to leave without making a purchase.  (True story: one time a few years ago I was on the way to the Oasis Summer Sale and I fainted on the bus, I got my ass energized enough to grab a few things in the sale before I officially wilted.  I am dedicated to Oasis).

Oasis Spring/Summer range will be hitting the shops from April with new Summer arrivals all the way to June.  Heaven.

Oasis always have what I like to describe as "Classically on Trend" pieces and this is really reflected in their range of shoes which are so on trend but are also so comfortable, you are safe in the knowledge that you can get this summer and next summer out of your shoes.  I love the block shoes that we are seeing, it gives you height but also reduces the risk of falling over (which can be a problem for me), they put the Fun in Functional.

My absolute favourite shoe for last year were the Keds for Oasis (which I bought 3 of the 4 pairs) I wore them every day last summer.  Irish summers can be very hit and miss and the Keds for Oasis brighten up your wardrobe while keeping your toes warm.  This summer Keds for Oasis have a sparkly pair (A SPARKLY PAIR) a classic nautical stripe and a broderie anglaise in navy and white.  I think it would be rude for me not to pick up the sparkly pair and the classic white broderie anglaise.

A little lift with pink leather bags seems to be a popular choice this summer, great to see that hint of metallic on the bag.

Oasis have a great range of jewellery that would wipe the floor with some of the designer jewellery collections.

Last year Oasis launched the V & A Collection and this year they are coming back with the prettiest collection of clothes inspired by the Victoria and Albert Museums comprehensive collection of ceramics.    I wish my plates at home looked so pretty.

Oasis have lots of pretty separates in the Summer collection including the cold shoulder top in a number of different designs (one to suit everybody).  This skirt and floral cold shoulder top reminds me of Carrie from Sex and the City living the New York Summer.

A timeless knitted summer dress, this could be styled to look anywhere from Gatsby to GaGa.

One of Oasis classic designs is their lace tops and dresses, this pretty yellow is very flattering and wearable.

I love the vibrancy of this orange shirt which will go perfectly with denim (I am thinking Irish summers are cold).

I absolutely adore this look of white embroidery on light denim, it comes in this top and also as a dress.  So pretty.

Oasis have a great selection of nautical stripes and also some mexicana inspired designs (think floaty black dresses with vibrant embroidery) which will be hitting the shops soon.  What trends are you looking forward to?  I am doing a dance of excitement in anticipation of the Keds for Oasis... the question is how long can this messy girl keep white runners clean for?
